This weekend, we have been busy dividing our time between enjoying group activities, participating in community service, and continuing to bond and "chill" in the common room. On Friday night, we went to an improv show, which featured both rehearsed scenes and spontaneous creations. Beforehand, we were asked to write secrets, which were used during the show. As we recognized inside jokes that our friends wrote down, or fake secrets that made fun of our group advisors, we could not stop laughing. Following this, many interns spent time in Boston's North End, where they enjoyed, among other things, Mike's Pastry's delicious desserts.
This morning, we separated into groups to participate in various community service projects. My group went to an American Red Cross Food Pantry, where we sorted dry and canned ingredients into what we estimated to be about 1250 bags. Despite our initial transportation confusion and the fact that we had to leave the dorm at 7:45 am, we ended up having a lot of fun and feeling very productive.
After a relaxing few hours, we again broke into groups for movie night. Those who went to "Eclipse," the newest installment of the "Twilight" series, thoroughly enjoyed it. The "Despicable Me" group also gave their movie a thumbs up, calling it "really funny." Though I have not personally seen either of these, I would still argue that my own movie choice, "Toy Story 3," is by far the best. The audience, which was full of far more '90's babies than young children, cheered on Woody and Buzz enthusiastically. I, among others, was sobbing by the end.
Later this evening, the common room was full of noise- a sure sign of fun. Overall, the weekend has been great so far, and we look forward to going to museums tomorrow morning and seeing Blue Man Group tomorrow night.
